Artist Statement

Jeffrey Otoo is a twenty–six–year–old Ghanaian artist whose practice opens up conversations about popular culture, fashion, robotic technology, material culture, and mythical creatures. Jeffrey’s paintings and installations interrogate themes such as power, desire, and extravagance in society to form different narratives. Jeffrey Otoo is a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where he was awarded his first degree in Fine Art from the department of painting and sculpture 2019. He is currently pursuing his MFA in painting and sculpture. He worked as a teaching assistant at the Kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology as a curator of the blaxtarlines museum project space. The blaxTARLINES Kumasi is a contemporary art project space established in Ghana, Jeffrey has had the opportunity to participate in blaxTARLINES groundbreaking exhibitions.
